Our September 13th meeting will feature a presentation by David Goldsmith on record breaking flights made from and to Lympne in the 1920’s and 30’s. Attempted flights will also feature in this meaty subject. Household names like Amy Johnson, Jim Mollison, Jean Batten and Jimmy Broadbent are just a few of the many names who chose Lympne to launch or end such flights. Aviation glory and disaster feature in equal measure in this golden era of aviation exploration. Such pilots were as famous as Premiership footballers are today. Lympne was often front page news in the national newspapers and on Pathe newsreels as these human adventures were played out on our Airfield!

The meeting starts at 7.30pm in the East Bar of Lympne Castle and is free and open to all. Enter the castle through the main doors and turn left. Thanks to our hosts Richard and Rod
